MS Teams Echo Problem Solved!! Brand new Thinkpad P1 laptops have “echo on far side” when on MS Teams meeting

MS Teams echo on far side

Shoutout to my coworker, Trent Christensen, who found a solution to the problem. In his own words: “Found a solution to the problem. Chad S called yesterday, and his speakers were not working. He had tried messing with some of the Audio drivers with no change. I disabled and enabled the Realtek(R) Audio driver under the “Sound, video, and game controllers.” This fixed the issue of no sound from the speaker’s issue. He called me this morning saying that the echo issue had been fixed by doing this as well. I tried it on Jeff B’s P1, and it fixed his issue as well.”

Here’s the solution:
• Open “Device Manager”
• Select -> “Sound, video, and game controllers”
• Select -> Realtek(R) Audio
• Right Click and Select -> Disable device -> Confirm Yes.
• Right Click and Select -> Enable device

That’s it! The echo should be gone.
